Nuvali, The Best Family Getaway Near Manila

I've been to Nuvali, Sta. Rosa almost 4 times already since it opened and whenever I go there, I notice that the whole community keeps on growing and evolving year by year--which is good of course! That's why Nuvali is one of the top destination for me whenever my family and I simply wants to unwind in a place alternative to the generic Malls around the Metro.

Nuvali is all about clean, fresh air, abundant greenery, catered for the family, work and leisure in one modern but "back to basic" community which we all need now a days.

This is what I love about Nuvali, cool fresh breeze & Mother nature :)

Just last week, my family (with my 3 very energetic nieces) and I spontaneously went to Nuvali with 4 missions in mind: 1. leave Manila for a change, 2. shop in various outlet stores, 3. feed the Koi fish and 4. ride a horse haha. And so we did...
Surprisingly, this is now how Nuvali looks like in a map. It has various open spaces for leisure and educational activities such as the Wild Life and Bird Sanctuary, Bike Tracks, Football, Volleyball and Baseball Fields, Clubhouse, Jogging Lane, Picnic Area, Fish Feeding Area, Boating, and Solenad (Food and Retail Area).

Sooo many things to do in just one place! Not to mention that there are numerous shops and yummy specialty restaurants out there that you guys can check out.

Although going here is very easy the toll fees now is a bit pricey for private vehicles. Nuvali can be accessed through several exits along South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) like Maplasan, Sta. Rosa,Eton City-Greenfield, Silangan, and Calamba but it is best to take the Sta. Rosa or Eton City Exits. From Manila, take Sta. Rosa exit from SLEX. Nuvali is about 7km to the right. You can also take a bus to Balibago, then ride a tricycle from Sta. Rosa exit (tricycle terminal) going to Nuvali. From Manila, the trip is just about 1.5 to 2 hours therefore it is the perfect family getaway! :)
There are E-Shuttle Services (woohoo! Go Green Go!) available around the compound of Nuvali where you can ride for FREE! :) Just wait at the terminal and enjoy the ride!

The Fish Feeding is the most attractive activity for me. Tourists visit this place to see a very very big school of Koi fish at one time. Imagine the Feeding Frenzy PC Game but bonus level! haha. You can feed the fishes for Php 15 per pack but only from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Water Taxi on the other hand costs Php 30 per head (same rate for adults and children) and for round trip already. It operates daily between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The minimum capacity is 6 and maximum is 12. The boat is very safe because there are life guards around the area, life jackets are provided and are worn at all times and children below 12 years old are not allowed to ride without someone who can accompany him/her. I believe you can also reserve a special boat trip by calling their office at (049) 3026091 or 09175ASKNUV (275688) or through email:

Bike rentals costs Php 60 per hour and you only have to present a valid ID and sign a waiver to start. Helmets are also provided per bike and strictly one bike per person, bike only at designate lanes, racing is not allowed and so as wearing slippers or sandals.

We didn't get to see the Bird Sanctuary or tried biking around the compound because we needed to fulfill our 3rd and 4th mission and that is to shop at different outlet stores (Nike, Gap, Nine West, Timberland etc...) and horse back riding for the kids.

But generally, I give Nuvali a two thumbs up for being the best family getaway near Manila! :)
